Florete Law hosts its first "Beyond the Bar" session for students, new lawyers and Bar takers

October 28, 2026

Iloilo City, Philippines – Florete Law successfully held its first episode of "Beyond the Bar" last Saturday, October 24, 2026 at Hereafter | Afterspace, Lapaz, Iloilo City. The event brought together law students, new lawyers and Bar takers, both in person and online, for an honest discussion on what the first years of legal practice truly demand.

The session was hosted by Atty. Phaul Rey Tolentino, with Atty. Mary Christine S.C. Florete and Atty. Renato T. Munez, Jr. sharing their insights as speakers. Together, they addressed a range of critical topics that extend well beyond what the Bar exam prepares graduates for, including the demands of the first years in a firm, the professional responsibilities that attach to a law license from day one, the art of managing up and reading a supervisor's working style, and the realities of job hopping, attitude management, and reputation-building in early legal practice. The discussion offered new lawyers and Bar takers a candid, strategic look at what it truly takes to build a lasting career in the profession.

"When we started planning this, the idea was simple: create a space for honest conversations about the parts of legal practice that the bar exam doesn't prepare you for," the organizers shared. "What it takes to build a practice, handle clients, survive the first years, and even navigate a law firm life."

In-person attendees received a token of appreciation for joining the event, and recordings of the full session are now available online for those who could not attend live.

Florete Law extended its thanks to everyone who supported the inaugural episode, noting that this is only the beginning of an ongoing conversation about what it truly takes to thrive in legal practice.
